R.A.F. PATROLS ACTIVE ENCOUNTER WITH GERMAN SHIPS. RETALIATORY BOMBING ACTION.' By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 10.15 a.m.) LONDON, December 26. The Air Ministry announces: "Throughout yesterday, although it was Christmas Day, the Royal Air Force continued with unrelaxed vigilance. their patrols covering our fishing fleets in the North Sea. Certain of our aircraft observed German patrol vessels,in the Eastern North Sea area. These vessels opened fire on our aircraft, which took retaliatory bombing action. Hits were not observed and no damage was done to our aircraft.” HERMAN REPORT BRITISH ATTACK REPULSED. (Received This Day, 10.55 a.m.) BERLIN, December 26. The High Command states that machineguns repulsed a British warplane attack on German patrolboats in Heligoland Bight.
