HEAVY ROAD TRAFFIC
WAIRARAPA WELL PATRONISED WITH VISITORS. MAWLEY PARK POPULAR. The secretary of the Wairarapa Automobile Association, Mr N. C. C. Shepherd, Featherston, stated this morning that motor traffic in the Wairarapa had been exceptionally heavy, considerably heavier, in fact, than that i ecorded last year. There were no serious accidents in the Wairarapa area, and very few cases of road hogs, most motorists showing consideration and road courtesy. The traffic was mostly for short run trips rather than long ones, brought about by the existing conditions. The Automobile Association camps were all full, and the highways were under strict patrol. Mawley Park motor camp this morning was a small village of canvas. The sheltered sites were all occupied and the amenities available at the camp were fully appreciated. One visitor said the camp was one of the best i.i the North Island. The custodian, Mr T. Bullock stated that the camp was being particularly well patronised, more so by visitors staying the Highland leaving the following morning. The average campers for the past three days was 18, 21 visiting the camp on Monday. Owing to the break in the weather he anticipated an increase in campers over the New Year holidays. Visitors from the North going to the Exhibition were making free use of the facilities at the Park.
