Jock’s eyes glistened as he stepped forward to receive from the landlord of the inn the bottle of whisky he had won in the Christmas draw. “You know. Jock,” whispered the landlord, "it is customary on these occasions for the winner to invite his friends to have a little something out of the bottle.” “The idea is daft," replied Jock with a sigh. "Still, gie ’em the cork. I'll no’ break wi' tradition."
