Lively scenes with danger of a serious riot were witnessed in Sydney Domain on Sunday, when about 50 soldiers on leave raided a Communist platform, tore down a red flag, ripped it to pieces and burned it within'view of 2000 cheering and hooting spectators. Police, heavily reinforced, drew their batons and scattered the disturbers, some of whom exchanged blows or were trampled underfoot. The uniforms of three constables were slashed with a razor blade. Three arrests were made. A youthful Communist orator later became a target for a fusillade of tomatoes. most of which landed on the Sunday suits of those surging round him.
