PACIFIC PATROL
AMERICA ORDERS FLEET OF FLYING=BOATS LONG-RANGE FOUR-ENGINED MACHINES. CONTRACT FOR TWENTY MILLION DOLLARS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WASHINGTON. December 23. The Navy has ordered a fleet of long-range four-engined flying-boats to patrol the Pacific line of observation. and reinforce the Administration’s Western Hemisphere defence policies. It is authoritatively stated that more than 50 aircraft, with a range of more than 5000 miles are involved in a 20 - 000,000-dollar order, the largest single aircraft contract in the Navy’s history. They will augment 15 aircraft of similar type ordered last year.
