Red Army troops are retreating on two fronts, following on fierce Finnish counter-attacks. The Russian bld to split the country north of Finland's wasp waist has been thrust back. They are now withdrawing to Salla and are also retreating in the Petsamo corridor where they had made most progress. Here intense cold is proving the Finn's best ally.
