WEDDING

„ I I. ,1 I — DUFFY—PERCY. The marriage took place at St Matthew's Church. Masterton, on Wednesday night of Bessie Percy, daughter of Mr and Mrs Foster Percy, and Howard Duffy, son of Mr and Mrs Duffy, Mauriceville. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore an Elizabethan gown of gold tinsel threaded cream georgette. The long, slightly rucked bodice was finished in front with small gold buttons and the neckline with tiny pleating and medici collar. The full skirt fell into a long train at the back and was finished with gold appliqued lace. The headdress of gold lace was halved with orange blossoms loaned by a very old friend of the family, Mrs S. M. George, of Alfredton. The long veil formed a second train. The bride carried a sheaf of Christmas lilies. The bridesmaids were Misses Sylvia Napier. Alfredton (chief), Dot Duffy, Wellington, and Mavis Tildesley, Mauriceville. They looked very sweet in their period frocks of white Richelieu taffeta made in similar design to that of the bride. From the medici collar fell long paniers lined with mauve over slightly bustle trained skirts. The bouquets were of mauve and pink sweet peas. Their ensembles were completed with gold shoes and gold Juliet caps. About 100 guests were entertained at the reception and afterwards a great number of friends of both families were entertained at a dance. Mr and Mrs H. Duffy, who were the recipients of many costly presents, later left by car for the north. The, bride travelled in a paisely dress and blue coat and accessories.
