PATRIOTIC SEAL

EXCELLENT RESPONSE REPORTED BIG TASK FOR VOLUNTARY WORKERS. MONEY GREATLY NEEDED. (Bv Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. Deep appreciation of the response to date in the Patriotic Seal Campaign and of the. assistance given by voluntary workers, was expressed by Mr R. H. Nimmo. deputy-chairman of the National Patriotic Council and originator of the seal appeal. Thousands of replies have been received .and thousands are still expected, imposing a big task on the voluntary stat! handling them. Mr Nimmo mentioned that it took an hour to handle three hundred of them, and as ttie work must be done in the presence of representatives of the Audit Department, it would be realised that the job was no light one.

During the holidays, replies will be held by the Post Office and will be dealt witn early in January by a selected stall. Mr Nimmo referred to the great help given by the GovernorGeneral. members of the National Board and Council, the Press and broadcasting authorities, the printers of tile seals and those doing the work ot posting and handling. From lhe results to date, he was sure New Zealanders would never let down the men who had answered the country's call. There was an urgent need lor lunds. particularly in view of the impending departure of the First Echelon .overseas. For that reason, the public were asked'to give, not only generously but quickly.
