COSY THEATRE

“MAN IN THE MIRROR.”

A startlingly original and highly amusing film heads the programme at the Cosy Theatre, “The Man in the Mirror,” starring Edward Everett Horton with Genevieve Tobin. The story of Jeremy Dilke and his unhappy, hen-pecked adventures would be all too familiar if n weren’t for the astonishing appearance of his own reflection, who steps from a mirror to assume command of his affairs. The results are hilarious. Smart dialogue carries the fast-moving scenes to an unbelievably rapid tempo of entertainment. Edward Everett Horton in both parts proves his great ability to cash in on the funniest situations life can provide. His “side-kick,” Genevieve Tobin, is an attractive and polished wife, while Ursula Jeans vamps Jeremy No. 2 successfully and Garry Marsh is the big bad stockbroker eventually brought to book by the arrogant reflection. At the end, of course, things become a bit more normal and Jeremy No. 1 takes complete and satisfactory control. “Sabotage” is the associate feature. Produced by Gaumont-British, it stars Sylvia Sidney, with Oscar Homolka, John Leder and Desmond Tester. This is an excellent thriller, dealing with modern sabotage and the human drama behind it. It has fine suspense, flrstclass acting, and the distinctive touches Hitchcock always gives to his productions.
