PLANES FOR FINLAND
RELEASED IN UNITED STATES. December 18. The Acting-Secretary of the Navy, Mr Edison, announced that he is allowing Finland to take the first 40 of a new type of Brewster fighter which is being built to the navy’s order. He stressed that the planes are being sold by the manufacturer and not the Government. The machines are considered to be faster than any Soviet machine. It is reliably stated that Finland is also purchasing machine-guns and ammunition. LEAGUE ACTION CENTRALISED ASSISTANCE PLANS. LONDON, December 19. The Geneva correspondent of the British United Press states that after the Finnish delegate, Dr. Holsti, had informed him that Finland is of the opinion that the League should organise active help, and not leave the fulfilment of the resolution to individual members, the League Secretary, General M. Jules Avenol. left for Paris with experts to formulate centralised assistance plans. CANADIAN HELP FUNDS FOR AMBULANCES. RUGBY, December 18.
