TRADE DECLINE
REGISTERED IN UNITED STATES. IN SPITE OF WAR MATERIAL SALES. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. WASHINGTON, December 17. American exports in November were valued at £287,063,600, which is £30,000,000, or approximately 11 per cent, under the October figure, giving the first indication that, despite the buying of war materials, the war is adversely affecting America. The biggest losses were in cotton, foodstuffs, and tobacco. The increased exports of aircraft and metals barely offset the losses in respect to chemicals, tractors, and industrial machinery. The import figures are also expected to show a decline. It is estimated that 100,000,000 dollars in Customs receipts has been lost during this fiscal year.
