CHRISTMAS SERVICE
IN THE OPEN AIR MASTERTON YOUTH COUNCIL. LARGE GATHERING AT PARK. The Masterton Youth Council were fortunate in having ideal weather conditions for their annual open air Christmas service which was held in the Masterton Park at 7 o’clock yesterday morning. In the beautiful surroundings of the Park a large gathering of young and old assembled and the service was most inspiring. The service was conducted by the Rev D. McNeur, and the singing of the Christmas hymns was led by the Salvation Army Band. The prayer was taken by Mr A. E. Lonsdale and the Scripture was read by Miss J. Douglas. The address was given by the Rev H. Taepa, who stressed the importanceof the early building up and development of Christian character as the only means of safe guidance through life's journey. Opportunities neglected now might never come again. In furtherance of his theme the speaker gave a picturesque interpretation of a Maori proverb bearing on the subject of being prepared. The Benediction was pronounced by the Rev F. J. Parker.
