EXCELLENT PRIZES. Local choirs, string quartettes and Drama Circles are offered good prizes in a series of competitions to be held under the auspices of the National Centennial Music Committee. Prizes of £125. £5O and £25 are offered in the choir competition, open to all choirs, including church choirs, not exceeding forty voices. In the string quartette section, prizes of £5O and £25 are offered. A one-act play competition is to be held at the same time. . Local committees will conduct eliminatory competitions during the early months of .'940 and the finalists from each district will go to Wellington for the music and drama week to be held between Saturday, June 22 and Saturday June 29, 1940.
