PRE-WEDDING PARTIES

MISS HARRINGTON HONOURED. Miss Mavis Harrington, who is to be married to Mr Earl Grantham this month, has been the guest recently at some very enjoyable parties in Wellington and Masterton. Mrs E. Cutler and Mrs J. Thompson held a “kitchen evening” at 19 Buller Street, Wellington for her; Miss Grace Smith gave the bride-to-be a “gift afternoon tea" at the Embassy Tea Rooms, Wellington, and Mr and Mrs E, J. Clarke and Mr and Mrs C. Hislop entertained her at a “pantry evening” at the Odd Fellows' Hall, Lower Hutt. Miss Harrington on each occasion receiving many useful gifts. Miss N. Flaws and Miss J. Ansell tendered Miss Harrington a “linen afternoon” at Miss Flaws's residence in Wright: Street, Masterton. Afternoon tea was served and later the gift parcels were opened by Miss Harrington assisted by Miss Ansell. Miss Harrington thanked the guests for the very useful articles of linen she had received. Those present then adjourned to the garden where they were entertained with two songs by Miss Fulton and some very amusing competitions were held. Among those present were Messrs Flaws and McGovern and Misses J. Ansell, N. Flaws, G. Hale, M. Burton, L. Whitehouse, M, Fulton and I. Fulton. .
