The executive committee of the New South Wales Eight-footers’ Sailing League has cancelled the registration of the Taree and expelled the owner, W. Scahill, and the skipper. B Swinbourne. The Taree is at present the Stale champion and cannot now start in today’s championship final in which she shared the lead on points. Scahill was expelled for not obeying a request to return the championship cup and Swinbourne for unbecoming conduct at last Tuesday’s meeting. A cable from Sydney on Wednesday stated: Mr B. Swinbourne was ordered out of the Eighteen Footer League’s meeting last night because he refused to withdraw his criticism of the secretary, Mr J. Giltinan. Mr Giltinan was explaining the action he had taken to recover the world’s championship trophy from Mr Swinbourne. The league executive oecided that the trophy must be returned by noon on Friday. If it is not, the executive will meet on Friday night to consider the position Mr Swinbourne stated after the meeting that he had no intention of returning the trophy.
