The pilot of of a German Dornier plane which was shot down told a Royal Air Force officers mess that he was a bosom companion of the pilot ".who sank the British aircraft-carrier Ark Royal." The pilot, who is aged 31. is a reservist who lias flown 1000 miles in four years. He was brought down in a light with British Hurricanes. His companions escaped by parachute. The pilot feigned death and then shot down an unsuspecting British pilot. A second Hurricane quickly responded and forced the Dornier to the ground. The pilot was then taken prisoner. While he was being entertained by the mess, lie said: "1 was trained to hate the English. I was (old that I would be tortured if I was taken prisoner." Then, looking at tile friendly faces around him. he burst into sobs.
