POWER BOARD

MEETING AT CARTERTON CHARGES FOR ELECTRICITY AT COLLEGE, WORK OF STAFF COMMENDED. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Wairarapa Electric Power Board held at Carterton yesterday a letter was received from the Mayor (Mr D. L. Taverner) in connection with the remodelling of the Carterton public swimming baths as a Centennial Memorial project, and requesting financial assistance in the form of a donation. It was decided to hold the matter over until the next meeting of the board. The board’s engineer, Mr H. B. Keenan, submitted a comprehensive report regarding relay control of water heaters for the board’s consideration. The Principal of Wairarapa College, Mr G. G. Hancox, wrote requesting that the board give consideration to the charges for power. The ManagingSecretary, Mr Geo Brown, explained the Very favourable terms under which the College was supplied. It was decided that the Principal be advised of this. At the conclusion of business, Mr A. Campbell Pearce referred to the excellent work carried out by the staff during the year and extended to them, on behalf of the board, seasonal greetings. Mr Brown reciprocated on behalf of the staff. The.next meeting of the board was fixed for February 15, 1940.
