GOLDEN WEDDING

MR AND MRS HENRY EVANS. Mr and Mrs Henry Evans, of Upper Plain, Masterton, are celebrating their golden wedding anniversary today. Mr and Mrs Evans (formerly Miss Gardner were married in the Masterton Methodist Church by the Rev Mr Rowse. in 1889. Mr Evans was born at the Upper Plain, where he has resided till his life, being the son of Captain Luke Evans an early settler on the Upper Plain. Mr Evans's grandfather was the earliest settler there, having a section in the original Small Farms settlement. After his marriage Mr Evans took over the farm, engaging principally in agricultural farming, in which he still takes! an active interest. Mrs Evans was the daughter of pioneer settlers, who were widely known and respected in the district. Mr and Mrs Evans have received congratulations from all parts of New Zealand. During the day they have been visited by many old and intimate friends.
