MEMORIAL PARK

TRUST IMPROVEMENT SCHEME. NO ACTION UNTIL NEXT YEAR. “If is going to be a fairly big job. and I don’t think that we can possibly do anything this year. We might follow up the matter next September after the football season,” said Mr H. P. Hugo, chairman of the Masterton Trust Lands Trust, referring at last night’s meeting of the Trust to proposals recently discussed at a conference with representatives of sports bodies to popularise and improve Cameron Memorial Park for summer sports. “I think that is a good idea." said Mr A. Owen Jones. “It certainly is too late in the season now to do anything. I would suggest leaving it over until the next financial year.” Mr Hugo said he would like to see more trees planted in the Park. They would, be a big improvement, as shelter and shade were urgently needed. Mr E. G. Eton suggested that the whole of the Trustees should visit the park and discuss the matter on the ground. He moved that on account of the lateness of the season no immediate steps be taken, and that the Trustees meet at the Park later and discuss the whole matter. Mr H. H. Daniell, in seconding the motion, said he thought it would be a good idea to co-operate with the Beautifying Society in any scheme to improve the Park. The motion was carried unanimously.
