The officers of a Japanese steamer which passed through the area which was reported to be the scene of a battle saw or heard nothing of it. EMBASSY STATEMENT (Received This Day, 12.55 p.m.) BUENOS AIRES, December 13. A Britisti Embassy spokesman said: “It can definitely be stated that there is not any truth in reports of the Achilles having been sunk."
