SECRET SESSION

— ? ELABORATE PRECAUTIONS IN COMMONS ALL APPROACHES TO HOUSE BARRED. MANY MEMBERS IN UNIFORM. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 10.50 a.m.) LONDON. December 13. For the first time since the last war, members of the House of Commons were forbidden to take friends into the Lobbies, as a preliminary precaution during the secret session. Elaborate precautions were taken to ensure secrecy. The Commons met in an atmosphere of excitement and the attendance was unusually large. Many members were in uniform. At precisely 4 p.m.. Mr Chamberlain drew the attention of the Speaker to the “strangers present” and attendants cleared the packed galleries. The Duke of Kent was among the peers, who alone remained. All approaches were barred and the secret session began.
