GREER GARSON
AN EXOTIC NEWCOMER. The most exotic person in Hollywood today is Greer Garson, practically unknown until she made her film debut in "Good-bye Mr Chips." She eclipsed Hedy Lamarr, whose picture with Spencer Tracy. "1 Take This Woman." has been shelved. Lamarr has since made "Lady of the Tropics" with Robert Taylor. Greer Garson is the most sought-after person in Hollywood by the columnists and publicity writers; she has a new face, a new personality. What will become of her? This publicised glamour is so frequently a tragic business for the person glamorised. Remember how Sigrid Gurie, the Brooklyn-born "Norwegian.” was built up for her role as the Manchu princess in "Marco Polo'?" She was later seen on the Universal lot. another blonde in a pale pink frock, playing a scene with five-year-old Donnie Dunagan, in a film ironically titled "Forgotten Women."
