FATHER CHRISTMAS
VISIT TO MASTERTON SCHOOLS. A very enjoyable time was spent by the children of the Masterton West School and the West Side School at their respective Christmas parties yesterday afternoon. -Father Christmas was collected from "aeroplane" by Miss Martin and taken first to West Side School announcing himself by loud knocks on the door, and being met. by members of the infant classes. One small boy took one look at Father Christmas and ran as fast as he could back to his seat, not sure at first that this strangely garbed person was a welcome guest! For the rest of the visit he sat as one entranced, eyes following Father Christmas continuously. After Father Christmas had greeted old acquaintances, he was entertained by the children with Christmas songs and carols. At each school a brightly decorated tree hung with toys, and books stood in a prominent' position. After addressing the children Father Christmas waved goodbye to them, leaving the teachers to distribute the toys and to continue the parties.
