FIRES IN AUSTRALIA
SUSPICIOUS OUTBREAKS IN WOOL CARGO BLAZE IN BUSINESS CENTRE OF MOUNT MORGAN. SEVENTEEN SHOPS RAZED. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. BRISBANE. December 12. Detectives are inquiring into a fire on an overseas vessel on which 860 bales of wool were loaded last week. The ship was due to leave when the fire was discovered. Eventually it was subdued after which a second fire occurred and did extensive damage. A report from the Mount Morgan mining field states that a fire there overnight razed 17 shops and practically wiped out the main business centre of Mt. Morgan. The damage is estimated at £50,000. The origin of the fire is unknown.
