APPEAL FOR BOOKS
FOR SOLDIERS ON TRANSPORTS. At the request of the New Zealand Returned Soldiers Association acting on the approval of the National Patriotic Fund Board, the Wairarapa Returned Soldiers' Association in this issue advertises an appeal for donations of books and magazines (in good order) for the use of soldiers on transports proceeding overseas. Reading matter forms part of a very necessary recreation for our soldiers, and the appeal presents an opportunity to the public of assisting the troops in a direct and practical way. Donations of books and magazines will be thankfully received at the association's office. Perry Street, Masterton. and at the following branches of the association: —Mr Gibb Johnston, honorary secretary. Carterton; Mr G. R. Robinson. honorary secretary, Greytown; Mr J. A. Halpin, honorary secretary. Featherston; Mr N. C. D. Mason, honorary secretary. Mart inborough. It is believed that almost every household has a few books and magazines which could be given to this desirable cause, and an appeal is made to the public of the Wairarapa to respond in its usual generous manner.
