DAMAGE AT MATAHIWI
FLOODING OF FARM LANDS. BIG DEPOSITS OF METAL. Flooding of the Waipoua River yesterday caused serious damage to farm lands at Matahiwi. On the property of Mr W. J. Percy the flood waters inundated 20 acres and deposited thousands of yards of metal. Two feet of water lay over four to five acres of ripening crops. The river, where its passes through this property, has silted up to such an extent that the bed is above the level of the surrounding country.
