CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS TREE. Despite the very inclement weather conditions last evening there was a very large attendance of children, parents and friends, in the Parkvale Hall last evening when the annual Christmas Tree gathering for the children was held. Games, competitions and dances were entered into by young and old alike, and a very happy time was spent. There was a beautifully decorated Christmas tree laden with presents, and great excitement was caused when Father Christmas arrived to distribute the gifts to the children. During the evening songs were contributed by Miss S. Rayner, Miss L. Rayner and a trio by Misses G. Adlam, P. Jensen and B. James. The children of the Institute rendered two Dutch songs. The items were well given, and warmly applauded. A musical parcel competition was won by Miss Norma Gallon. A lucky spot waltz went to Mrs Ross Gallon, and Miss Norma Gallon and a children’s Monte Carlo was won by Miss June Williams and Master Mervyn Renall. A dainty supper was provided by the ladies' committee of the Institute. The singing of the National Anthem brought to a close at midnight one of the happiest gatherings held at Parkvale for a long time.
