Twenty-year-old Madge Chambers, of the Women's Auxiliary Air Force, the first Scottish girl to die on active service, was buried with full Royal Air Force honours. Six members of the Royal Air Force acted as pall-bearers and the firing party fired three volleys. Warplanes overhead dipped in salute.
