The Finnish people are doing their duty towards the entire civilised world and are paying with the most precious thing oi all. their own blood.” The Russian delegates spent most of the day at their hotel. The appeal has been referred to a committee, which is now meeting. The Norwegian delegate was elected president oi the Assembly. He said they were to listen to an appeal by a member State and it was incumbent on them, with all possible wisdom, to endeavour to bring about a better world. Fourteen documents have been lodged as a background to the appeal. 11 is staled that there is no doubl that the'League Assembly will express its condemnation of Ilnssia's action. Some delegates are. of the opinion that Russia should be expelled from the League, but others are unwilling to take such a course. This will not prevent the passing of a resolnlion expressing strong condemnation of Russia and it is expected that the resolution will leave it open to members to take whatever action they think fit to heli) Finland.
