LEAVING SHORTLY

AUSTRALIAN EXPEDITIONARY FORCE OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT. FULL PROTECTION PROVIDED FOR TRANSPORTS. Bv Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. MELBOURNE. December 10. The Minister for the Army, Brigadier Street, announced officially today that the first contingent of the Australian Expeditionary Force will leave shortly for service overseas. “The public will appreciate that in the'interests of the safety of the convoy it is undesirable to publish the date of sailing and other details." he said. "All can rest assured, however, that full protection for the transports will be provided. “By the co-operation of the Royal Navy and the Royal Australian Navy powerful naval forces are available to ensure safety. The movements of the force overseas will not cause any material interference in the shipment abroad of commercial cargoes, as additional vessels not normally on the Australian run are available as transports.’’ ____________
