The Hon. W. Nash. Minister of Finance. visited Palmerston North on Saturday. Mr and Mrs C. W. Dickason. Short Street. Masterton. have arrived home from a visit to England. The Hon. R. Semple. Minister of Public Works, returned to Wellington from the South Island on Saturday. The Rev T. R. Taepa preached at the Church of the Epiphany. Kuripuni. last night. He was welcomed on behalf of parishioneds by the Rev T. V. Pearson. J. B. Baird, of Masterton. won the Feilding A. and P. Association's Challenge Cup for the highest aggregate of marks in all subjects of the senior agriculture course, and the Allen Brothers' Rose Bowl for merit in agriculture at Feilding Agricultural High School, this year. Mr R. W. Steel, manager in Auckland of Messrs Wright. Etephenson and Company. Limited, and Messrs Abraham and Williams, Limited, has been elected to the board of directors oi the first-named company, in whose service lie has been engaged since 1908. Mr Steel joined Messrs Wright. Stephenson and Company. Limited, in Dunedin, where he remained till the outbreak of the last war. He served overseas, and on his return to the Dominion he was appointed manager in Masterton in 1920. anil three years later a departmental manager in the head office in Wellington. He went to Auckland in 1937.
