LANSDOWNE SCHOOL
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. Mr H. E. Pither presided at the monthly meeting of the Lansdowne school committee when there were also present: Messrs Donovan. McGregor. Dagg. Ross. McFarlane, and the headmaster. Mr J. W. T. Jones. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs Logan and Fly. Accounts amounting to £9 14s Del were passed for payment. The headmaster's report presented tc the meeting showed a total roll at the school of 286. He reported that the attendance during the month had been quite satisfactory. The grounds were in very good order and at present the (chool gardens were at their best. Mr M. Munn had been appointed to the -talT as a probationary assistant. In connection with the closing of the school for the holidays it is proposed that the pupils make a display of school work carried out during the year, and senne folk dancing and drill will also be arranged. It was decided that an invitation be extended to all parents and others interested to visit the school on Thursday next. It was pointed out that considerable overcrowding was taking place in the new school, particularly in the in’fan: department, and it is the intention ot the committee to take tile matter U|. with the board in an endeavour tc have some further accommodation provided. The chairman extended Christmas greetings to members of the committee and to the headmaster and his stall. Mr G. M. Ross together with Mr .loner replying.
