CARTERTON
BOWLING CARTERTON CLUB GAMES. (“Times-Age" Special.) Further games were played by the Carterton Bowling Club members last evening. The green played exceptionally true thanks to the dry conditions. The following are results: — Champion pairs: In the first match in the scecond round Hawker and DeLacey (s) defeated Beaven and Barr (s) after a close contest by 20/18. Progressive pairs: G. Steven and Sorensen (s) beat Kilmister and Barber (s) 24/15; A. Thompson and Hughan (s) beat Boyne and Harrington (s) 23/20; McCarty and J. G. Stevens (s) beat Newbould and Harp (s) 25/19. BOY SCOUTS CARD PARTY. The weekly card party in connection with the Boy Scout Movement was held in the Band Room last evening, there being a large attendance. The prizes were won as follows: —Ladies: Mrs P. Hodder, 1; Mrs Hopkins and Mrs F. Hyde (equal), 2. Men: B. Challis, 1; Mrs O'Halloian (acting), 2. Lucky prize: Mrs Collerton, 1; Mr T. Ray, 2. SWIMMING BATHS TO BE jpPENED ON SATURDAY. The official opening of the Carterton swimming baths will take place on Saturday next. Provincial Wasting of Water. The Carterton Borough Council has notified residents that as the ‘wasting of water would quickly diminish the supply, any person caught wasting water would be prosecuted. If the water is reasonably used there is an ample supply for everybody. School Ball. The annual ball in connection with the Carterton District High School will take place tonight. Complete arrangements are being made for the gathering which promises to be very successful.
