She was on a voyage from Xew Zealand and Australia. It is understood the Doric Star was: sunk in the South Atlantic, it is assumed by the pocket-battleship Admiral Scheer. The Berlin Radio says it was in the South Atlantic. The "Daily Mail" says it is believed that the Doric Star was attacked in the region of the Cape of Good Hope. Berlin reports that the Swedish steamer Rudolf (2159 tons.) was mined. The crew took to the lifeboats. Presumably this is the unnamed Swedish ship which was reported lost yesterday. MUTILATED CALL PRESUMABLY JAMMED BY RAIDER. ONLY CLUE TO FATE OF SHIP. (Received This Day. 10.25 a.m.) CAPE TOWN, December 5. A mutilated wireless was intercepted, giving the call signs of a ship’s position. The word “gunned” is the only clue to the fate of the Doric Star. It is believed that a German raider jammed a message from the Doric Star, which was sunk about 1,000 miles north-west of Cape Town, where she called a week ago. Daventry reports that there is no further news of the Doric Star. It is stated that the ship carried a cargo of frozen meat. There were no passengers.
