Cabled advice received from Sydney stated that Miss Gwen Carle, who has been on an extensive visit to England, has reached Sydney, and is expected to arrive in New Zealand shortly. Miss D. Laing has been appointed sole teacher at Te Wharau, Miss B. Gallagher (Kaitoke) to a similar position at Kaiparoro, Miss R. C. Hunter sole teacher at Te Whiti, Miss E. E. Tucker (Auckland) sole teacher at Kaituna, and Mrs M. Scott, of Invercargill, assistant teacher at Hukanui. A wedding of interest to the bride’s New Zealand friends was celebrated recently in St. Stephen's Church. Sydney, New South Wales, when Miss Ann Howarde, Wellington, was married to Dr. C. Sydney Laurence, Sydney. The bride, before her departure for Australia was for several years associated with the “New Zealand Referee and Sporting Life.”
