» Messrs MacCaskill and J. K. Brown are Wellington guests at the Empire Hotel. Mr Frank O'Brien, the well-known Canterbury cricketer and a member of the firm of M. O'Brien and Companj’. Ltd., is on his way to New Zealand. Mr Malcolm K. Kitchen, Auckland, has transfered from the Royal Air Force to the New Zealand Anti-tank Unit in England, according to advice received by his relatives. Prince of Wales Hotel guests in the past day or two have been Messrs L. G. Benton (Featherston); Walker and Polson (Dannevirke); J. Baueke (Wellington). Captain C. J. Williams (formerly of M'aslerton and officer commanding C Company, Hawke's Bay Regiment) and now Area Officer, No 7 Military Area, stationed at Napier, who had been on a visit, to Wellington, paid a call at Masterton on his way home today. Mr W. H. Butler, who for 17 years has been in charge of the postal work in the Dominion Farmers' Institute building, has retired, and was farewelled by the managing director. Mr A. Leigh Hunt, and staff, and representatives of some of the offices in the building. He was presented with a cheque by the management and the staff, and, as a personal gift, with a book by Mr Hunt.
