SOLWAY RAINFALL. FIGURES FOR NOVEMBER. Mr H. M. Boddington reports that rain was measured on 13 days in November, the maximum fall being 40 points on the 25th, and the minimum 2 points on the 12th, 14th and 22nd. The total for the month was 1.08 inches, as against 2.94 (1938), 1.74 (1937), 2.68 (1936), 4.38 (1935), 1.92 (1934). The average for 38 years is 2.85 inches. Last month was the second driest November recorded at Solway in 36 years. In 1923 43 points was recorded for 4 days. The total rainfall for eleven months is 26.52 inches, as compared with 42.38 (1938), 30.91 (1937), 40.97 (1936), 44.22 (1935), 34.44 (1934). The average for 36 years is 36.40 inches. The past eleven months were the driest for 36 years, the nearest being 27.60 inches in 1919. Miss A. M. Brown reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday:—Barograph, 29.90. Shade temperature: Maximum 75.7, minimum 49.5, terrestrial 43.8. Sunshine, 4 hours 25 minutes. Rain, 14 points. Miss Brown reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today:—Barograph, 30.15. Shade temperature: Maximum 68.2, minimum 44.7, terrestrial 30.3. Sunshine. 6 hours 27 minutes. Weather forecast: Gradually freshening west to north-west winds; weather, fair to fine and mild.
