RAWALPINDI HEROES
TRIBUTE BY FRENCH NAVY. ■ GLORIOUS FEAT OF ARMS. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY. November 30. The Admiralty announces the exchange of the following telegrams between the French and British Admiralties:— "The French Navy has heard of the heroic fight of the Rawalpindi with deep feelings. The navy will reverently guard the memory of the glorious feat of arms, which was in accord with the very highest traditions of the British Navy." ".The Admiralty received with deep gratitude the message from the French Navy upon the loss of the Rawalpindi in battle. These inspiring words will be .conveyed to the comrades of those who were lost." The Admiralty today published a list of 39 officers and 226 ratings missing as a result of the loss of H.M.S. Rawalpindi. The list of ratings includes a small "unknown” number, given as 26 by German sources, who are prisoners of war.
