VISIT TO EXHIBITION
BY PARTY OF COLLEGE PUPILS. ENJOYABLE TIME SPENT. : A very happy, but far from tired, i party of 278 pupils from the Wairarapa College returned last night from a day’s excursion to the Centennial Exhibition at Wellington. The scholars were in charge of the Principal. Mr G. G. Hancox, and 14 masters. The arrangements ran smoothly to schedule | and largely due to the co-operation of I the acting-stationmaster at Masterton. Mr Campbell, the arrangements made for transshipment to buses at the other end were flawcss. The assistance of the Exhibition authorities also largely contributed to the success of the visit. The behaviour of the pupils was splendid. and evoked very favourable comment from unexpected qaurters. One pupil was heard to remark “how could anyone play up when they had been treated so well by masters and the authorities alike?" The pupils were taken on escorted tours until 3 o’clock and from 3 o'clock to 5.30 o’clock were allowed time off to visit Play land, or where ever their fancies guided them. | The various pavilions thrilled them, but for popularity first place went to the Crazy House. A long and happy ! period was spent there by almost all of the pupils. The laughing sailor outside was also thoroughly appreciated. The Exhibtion provided one of the most happy functions of the school year. The following programme will show : that nothing was left to chance so far j as the party’s safety and well being I was concerned:— Dress, school uniform. Overcoats should be taken. If a strap or a piece of string and a label are taken, coats may be left at the Exhibition Cloak Room at a charge of 3d. A snack should be taken to eat on the train just before arrival in Wellington. At the Masterton station, report to your teacher, and fall in in your class position. No one is to board the train till the Principal gives the instruction. During the journey to Wellington:— (a), No hanging out of windows; (b). No standing on carriage platform; (c), No movement between carriages; (d). No getting out at stations: (e) Leave the carriage clean and tidy. On arrival at Wellington, the teacher in charge will give order to leave the carriage. Fall in beside the carriage in fours ready to march off to trams. On arrival at the Exhibition, coats, etc., may be left at the cloak room. Details re tours of pavilions will be given to teachers in charge of parties. Pupils must keep with their parties and ob-I serve the times set down. General | Plan: —Morning, boys: U.K. Pavilion. I N.Z. Government Court. Motor and Transport Court, Dominion Court. Girls: Australian. General Exhibits. Manufacturing Industries. Engineers' Court. Tower Block. Afternoon. Boys: Australian. General Exhibits. Manufacturing Industries, Engineers’ Court. Tower Block. Girls': U.K. Pavilion.; N.Z. Government Court, Motor and | Transport Court. Dominion Court. As-1 semble for dinner at the Exhibition dining room lounge downstairs at 12 I In case of accident or other enter [ o'cloc. In case of accident or other I emergency, the Principal or his deputy for the time being will be at the Dining roo mounge from 3 p.m. From .3 p.m. pupils will be free to visit Playland or parts of the Exhibition of which they wish to see more. Avoid excess of chocolate, ice creams, soft drinks, etc. Observe rest periods—--11.2- 1.20-1.30; 2.20-2.30; 3.20-3.30: 4.20- Re-Assembly At the Plunket Room at the east end of Playland, j at 5.30 p.m. March to the trams, j March from the trams to the Station. ■ Do not board the train till the word is | ' given.
