The Prime Minister, M Daladier, was empowered by the Chamber of Deputies, to rule France by decree for the duration of the war. The voting was: 318 in favour, 175 against. This power automatically ceases with the end of hostilities. The Chamber also passed a vote of confidence in M Daladier by 309 votes to 188.
