OBITUARY
MR B. LUMLEY. (“Times-Age” Special.) The death occurred at his residence. Howard Street, Carterton, early this morning of an old and highly respected resident of the Wairarapa in the person of Mr B. Lumley. The late Mr Lumley was born at Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, England, in 1875. He left England in 1904 landing in New Zealand the same year and took up his residence at Masterton. He was farming at Matahiwi and Solway for several years, finally giving up farming pursuits and taking up his trade as a butcher, with the firm in Masterton known as “K. and H.” He was later in the employ of Mr' H. B. Thomas in Carterton. He was in his employ for some years. He then joined the firm of Dellers, later retiring. Mr Lumley was in town yesterday morning and appeared to be in good health. At lunch time he complained of not feeling his usual self, but showed no signs of serious illness. Just before midnight Dr W. J. C. Wells was called to his home but upon arrival he found deceased had passed away, the cause of death being a heart seizure. The late Mr Lumley was held in very high esteem among a very large circle of friends in Carterton and Masterton. He was very interested in cricket and umpired in matches at Masterton for some years. He was a keen fisherman and had made arrangements to go away at the weekend on a fishing expedition. He (paves a widow and a grown-up daughter. Miss Lily Lumley, to whom sincere sympathy will be expressed. The funeral will take place on Monday next, leaving the late residence at 1 p.m. for the Clareville Cemetery.
