All private and public swimming pools in Germany are to be devoted to breeding edible fish. An official order has been given that pike and other suitable fish should be bred in every swimming pool. The use of swimming pools as such is forbidden under severe penalties. "Within two years pike and other such fish ‘now put down' should weigh at least 21b. apiece, and therefore provide excellent nourishment whether for private consumption or for sale," the ordinance concludes.
