FEILDING SALE. WETHER PRICES IMPROVE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING. December 1. Very small yardings were offered at Feilding today, the total number of sheep entered being fewer than 2000 head, and cattle fewer than 500 head. Wether mutton showed a recovery on last week, but in most other cases prices were unchanged. Fat sheep: Wethers and ewes made up the bulk of the entry, hoggets being in small supply. Wethers made about Is 6d a head above last week’s prices, and ewes also showed a slight appreciation in value. Prime ewes made 14s 6d to 16s Id; second quality, 12s 6d to 13s 9d; light, 9s lOd to 10s lOd; prime heavy wethers. 21s 6d to 24s 6d; medium prime, 19s to 21s; light, 17s to 17s 6d; prime-cowditioned hoggets, 20s 2d to 24s 7d; lighter, 18s to 19s. Store sheep: Some well-grown twotooth ewes and hoggets were included in the small entry in this section and sold well. Extra good two-tooth ewes made 23s Id to 245; second quality, 22s to 22s lOd; best two-tooth wethers, 16s 9d to 16s lid; smaller. 14s 6d to 15s 9d; plain. 10s 6d to 11s Id; average b.f. two-tooths, 14s 4d; forward four-tooth wethers. 16s Id to 16s 7d. Store cattle: Barely half the yarding of station cattle found buyers, the market still being quiet, despite the improvement in the food position since the rain. Good fat and forward threeyear A.A. steers made £10; small yearling Hereford heifers, £2 to £2 17s 6d; good two-year A.A. heifers, £3 19s to £4 16s; yearling A.A. heifers, best, £2 15s to £3 13s; small, £1 17s 6d to £2 12s 6d; yearling A.A. steers, mediumsized. £2 14s to £3 ss; backward, £1 10s; well-grown, mixed yearling steers, £4 Is; two-year A.A. steers. £7 10s; forward A.A. steers, £7 10s; forward A.A. cows, £4 to £4 2s; yearling Jersey heifers, best. £3 5s to £3 17s 6d; smaller, £2 5s to £2 12s 6d; potter cows, heavy. £3 14s to £4 10s; others. £1 16s to £3 10s. Fat cattle: Beef was again in dull demand, with a small proportion of runfattened stock among the ex-dairy lines. Heavy A.A. cows made £lO ss; light £4 17s 6d to £5 17s 6d; ex-dairy sorts, £3 5s to £4 15s; light prime heifers, £5 17s 6d to £7; ex-dairy sorts, £4 12s 6d to £5 10s. Dairy cattle: An excellent demand was shown for a small entry of dairy stock, which included a proportion of select springing heifers and cows in milk. Good springing cows made £7 7s 6d to £8 17s 6d; cows in milk £ll 12s 6d; springing heifers, good, £8 12s 6d to £lO 2s 6d; others, £4 10s to £7 ss; heifers in milk, £5 ss. Pigs: Good quality pigs were again high-priced, with a total clearance of all those offering. Weaners made 10s 6d to 15s; stores. £1 6s 6d to £1 10s; porkers. £1 10s to £2 0s 6d. CARTERTON SALE. PRICES WELL UP TO LATE RATES. Mesrs Wright, Stephenson and Co Ltd., report that a good yarding of sheep, cattle and pigs came forward at their Carterton Sale yesterday, being offered to a fair attendance. All classes sold well up to late rates and a total clearance resulted. The following were the prices realised: — Sheep:—Fat b.f. 2-ths, to 21s; fat woolly hoggets, to 21s; fat woolly wethers, to 265; fat woolly ewes to 225; fat shorn ewes, to 13s sd; ewe hoggets, to 235. M.A. woolly ewes with good lambs at loot to 19s 3d (all counted), f.m. ewes with lambs at foot, to 8s 9d fall counted). Cattle: —Springing Jersey cows, £8 10s to £9; springing Jersey heifers, £5 [to £7; fat heifers, £5, £6 to £6 7s; fat cows, £5 10s to £7 ss; vealers, to £2 10s; cows and calves. £2 10s, £3 15s, to £4 10s; forward cows, £3 16s to £4 10s. store cows. £2 6s to £2 10s.
