WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION. ANNUAL MEETING OF DELEGATES The annual meeting of the Wairarapa Lawn Tennis Association was lield in the Farmers Rooms last night. Mr R. W. Roydhouse occupied the chair. Delegates were present representing the Alfredton, Carterton. Masterton, Martinborough. Masterton Park. Memorial Mount Bruce, Tinui. Featherston and Kuripuni Tennis Clubs. Prior to the commencement of the business the president, referred in feeling terms to the deatli of Mrs W. ,1. Martin < Martinborough) and Mrs J. C. Peacock (Wellington). Mrs Martin was well known for her work in connection with the Martinboreugh Club, and Mr Peacock had been a competitor for many years at Wairarapa tournaments.
In moving the adoption of the report. Mr Roydhouse stated that the Association had experienced a satisfactory year, and said that it rested with the ; clubs to make an effort to keep the ; game going during the war period, as . was the case in the Great War. He - regretted that Martinborough would ; not be holding its annual tournament ; this year, and expressed the hope that ; they' would be resumed later. The Wairarapa College was granted permission to enter a team in the C Grade competition, and the St Patrick’s Club was granted re-affiliation. The Inter-club competition will be run under the same conditions as last year. The election of officers resulted: — | President, Mi' R. W. Roydhouse (reelected), vice-president, Messrs E. M. Hodder and J. A. Kennedy; committee, Messrs N. W. Groves, P. Hawksworth, C. K. Long, G. S. McLeod and H. M. A. Major; secretary-treasurer. Mr H. M. Boddington (re-elected); hon auditor. Mr N. H. James: delegates to the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association. H. M. Boddington and D. L. Taverner. INTER-CLUB COMPETITIONS. DRAW FOR FIRST ROUND. The following is the draw for the first round of the Wairarapa Lawn Tennis Association’s Inter-Club competitions. The matches are to be played at the courts of the club mentioned first in each instance, and will take place on Saturday:— GAWITH SHIELD. A GRADE. Masterton v Memorial; Carterton V, Martinborough. B GRADE. I Mt Bruce v Carterton; Memorial v Masterton Park; Kuripuni v Masterton. C GRADE. Carrington Park v Rangitumau; Masterton Park v Greytown; St Patrick's v Memorial; Wairarapa College, a bye. ■ PARK TEAMS. The following teams will represent the Masterton Park Tennis Club in the matches to be played tomorrow: — B grade (v Memorial Park on Memorial courts): Misses Reader. West, Martel. Butler, P. Andrews and Mrs A. Whiteman; Messrs Handyside, Brader, T. McGovern. McEwen, Morgan and Denbee. C grade (v Greytown on Park courts): Mesdames Long, Groves. McEwen. and Misses J. Andrews, Thornton and Bannister; Messrs H. McGovern, Morris. Charleson, Penistone, Wainscott and Forrest. Emergencies: Mrs Wearne and Miss Hendry, and Messrs Wilson and Cook. MEMORIAL PARK TEAMS. The following team will represent the Memorial Park Lawn Tennis Club in an A grade fixture against Masterton Tennis Club, to be played on the Masterton courts at 1.30 on Saturday afternoon: Misses Kilmister. Percy O'Donnell. Watson, Wickens and Mrs B. M. Hurley; Messrs D. Leete. Phillips, J. H. Kennedy (captain). L. Connolly, C. R. Boys, M. Syron. The B team to play' Masterton Par);at Memorial courts at 1.30 o'clock is : t follows: Misses E. Madsen A. Holtham Calwell. Syron. Dawson. Palmer Messrs C. K. Long. J. Dove. B. Carrig C. C. Marsack.
