Strong sub-committees have been appointed to give special attention to the many aspects of club activities, and members are asked to note the personnel of these, and deal direct with the members of the sub-committees in order to save the secretaries as much work as possible. The sub-committees are as follows: —Executive. Messrs H. P. Glen, F. Stains. V. McKeague. R. Barnes, G. Barr; bath controller and organiser, Mr F. Stains; programmes. Messrs M. Fly and H. Dixon, gear stewards. Messrs A. Dean and M. Finlayson: handicappers. Messr D. Pauling and M. Fly; secretary and treasurer, Messrs G. Barr and R. Barnes; ladies' stewards, Mrs Major and Miss D. O’Connor. and C. Roff. The first club night will be held in the Dixon Street baths next Tuesday evening. AH old and new members are requested to attend in order to start the season with a "bumper" night. The programme of events will appear in the "Times-Age" each Monday afternoon. Intending competitors are asked to attend early at the baths in order to hand in their entries in time for the handicappers to give them pro- j pci' consideration. Some of the conditions which will govern competitive swimming and diving this season are: —Active members are divided into three groups as follows: —(a) Juniors I who must be under 14 years of age on October 1; (b) Intermediates, under 17 years on October 1; (c) Seniors. 17 years, and over at October 1. An intermediate member may compete in senior events, but by doing so becomes ineligible for future intermediate races and championships. Members must have been financial for at least four weeks before being eligible to com- > pete in club championships, and must also have competed in at least two competitive races prior to the championship race. The committee draws the attention of members to the rule of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association, which stipulates that all competitors must, wear a full cos- ‘ tunic and "vees" when taking part in 'official events. It is the intention of the club to hold short-distance races for beginners, so parents are invited Io encourage their children to enter for these events, and so help them to become more proficient swimmers. Should weather conditions on Tuesday evenings prevent the events being held the races will be carried out on Thursday evenings.
