The Domei News Agency states that the Prime Minister, General Abe, addressing Osaka business men, said a final ’ solution to the China problem might take from five .to 10 years. The launching of a new Central China Government should not be taken to mean that the China incident was ending. The settlement of economic questions would remain after military operations had ended. Pacification would require a great effort after General Chiang Kai-Shek was broken. LOSS OF NANNING ADMITTED BY CHINESE. The Chinese have now admitted the loss of Nanning, the key city on the route to French Indo-China, a radio message reports. Troops have withdrawn after the Japanese bombardment had set the city on fire. It is announced that after a short rest the Japanese intend pushing on to an unspecified base. Ever since the Japanese invasion of South China, the Chinese have maintained that the loss of Nanning would not be important, as the city had practically been abandoned for some time. In the meantime the Chinese are carrying out the “scorched earth” policy to increase the hardships of invading forces.
