A WAIRARAPA ASSET

Sedgley Home, Mr Rich went on to observe, belonged to the Wairarapa. It had been erected in Masterton only after very careful consideration by members of all the parishes, in the Wairarapa. They were grateful for all the help that had been given them. In a few weeks, their family was to be increased from fourteen boys to thirtytwo. He had heard it said that two people could live just as cheaply as one. Whether that was true or not, he would leave to the experience of his hearers, but thirty-two boys were going to eat more than fourteen boys and were going to need more clothes. The need for this work was as great as ever and it was still worth while. They had had splendid reports ,on the work of boys who had gone out ol Sedgley to take up different positions. At the annual gift day. old boys sent gifts to help the work of the home. Their old boys regarded Sedgley as a real home to which they could come back when they had a day or two to spare. It was well worth while to give boys their chance. They wanted to give the bpys all the care they could, to ensure them all the happiness they ought to have in boyhood days and to see to it that they were prepared, physically, mentally and spiritually for the work that lay ahead of them. Mr Rich asked his hearers to continue their help of the home and if possible to increase it. in order that their large family might be cared for as well as the smaller family they had had in the past. (Applause).
