MASTERTON CLUB. ANNUAL REPORT. The following is the annual report of the Masterton Golf Club which is to be submitted to the annual meeting tonight:—lt affords me much pleasure in presenting to you the annual report and statement of accounts. Finance: The year has been a very >■ satisfactory one and the revenue acl count shows a surplus of £174 comi pared with a loss of £132 on last - year’s working. It is pleasing to re- - eord the substantial increase of over - £lOO in membership fees and £36 in s green fees. Your committee has con--1 fined its activities to maintaining the - course and no major improvements ? have been undertaken. General mainI tenance costs still continue to increase j and during the coming season a close • watch of all expenditure will be necessary. Watering scheme: During the year ; your committee devoted a great deal of • time in an endeavour to establish a satisfactory watering scheme for the • course. Unfortunately while the inI vestigations were being finalised the ■ war broke out, and it was reluctantly . decided temporarily to abandon this . important and essential work. The in- ■ vestigations so far made, have, however, satisfied your committee that a [ watering scheme is practicable and ; will be a definite possibility for the future. We would take this opportunity of placing on record our thanks to . Messrs A. H. Daniell and C. A. Man- [ nering and also to the Masterton . County Council for their assistance • during the investigations. General: Again your committee ex- ; tends its thanks and appreciation to , the ground staff and custodian and to I all members who have helped in the . management of the club's affairs. To those members who generously assisted . in the erection of the boundary fence. I our special thanks are due.
