THE KINGDOM OF PEACE

“We have prayed for peace. What did we mean by it?” asked the Rev. K. L. Parry, in a 8.8. C. broadcast. "Did we mean: Leave us to enjoy our lives in comfort whatever happens in the rest of the world? No, we surely meant: End this tyranny of hate and cruelty from which millions are suffering. ‘Bring in the day of brotherhood and end the night of wrong.’ If we meant that, then it may be that this is the' answer to our prayer. It may be that, because of sin, not only the sin of others, but our sin also, it could only come through war. We know so little of the inscrutable ways of Providence. We can only do what we know to be out duty, taking one step at a time. Therefore we shall continue to pray, more earnestly than ever, that the kingdom of peace and love may be established in the earth.”
