FASHIONS BREEZE
HATS AND HAIR RIBBONS. When it comes to hats Paris says they should cover all.your head with no more perching precariously on the top. Even turbans should come down around the ears. Hair ribbons, a slightly more than shoulder length bob. and occasional bangs will figure prominently in the next season’s hair trends, and ribbons will always be a necessary adjunct when a hat is not worn, to counterbalance the prominence of the bustle contours. If you are tired of being Victorian, wear a plain enchanting gown of white and silver lame, draped softly across the bodice, and caught with a gold lame sash. For your new evening wrap wear a reefer of embossed gold lame with jewelled buttons down the front. Balenciaga makes an evening bag in the shape of a little tammbourine. decorates it with bows of brown satin ribbon on each side, and uses the ribbon for a handle. Evening gloves are full of interest, and dressmakers are not astonished if you ask them to save a length of material so that you can have gloves made to match your dress. For summer days are Hermes gloves of glace kid in a pale flesh colour, stitched in pink, with flower-embroidered buttons. Designed for a black dress are Chanel’s baroque pearls with little red grosgrain bows. Waists have discarded their old-fa-shioned vagueness and are highly emphatic, nipped in by darts, seams, or set-in belts. Piquet swings back the skirt of a black wool dress, black buttoned and backed fringed.
